Woodland officers arrest teens for drinking and rock throwing

Teens initially suspected of drinking in a Woodland alley face more serious charges after police said rocks were thrown at them in the course of their investigation.

Officers were called to an alley near Summertree Lane about 5 p.m. Wednesday for a report of teens drinking. When they arrived, most of the teens scattered.

Two, however, were detained for being in possession of alcohol and public intoxication. As officers went about conducting an investigation, one of the detained teens became combative with officers, according to police. As officers struggled to control the 16-year-old boy, other teens returned and began throwing rocks at the officers.

Backup officers responded and one of the suspected rock-throwers, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested. Two 14-year-olds were also arrested, one for obstructing an officer and another for being drunk.

A police press release said that after being cleared at the hospital, they were booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall on various charges that include assault, obstructing an officer, battery on an officer and minor in possession of alcohol.
