Five people were arrested after a house fire in the 6000 block of Laguna Villa Way in Elk Grove on Saturday morning led investigators to the discovery of three residential marijuana growing operations, Elk Grove police said.

Police also recovered 550 marijuana plants and about six pounds of packaged marijuana, as well as $1,400 and a loaded, sawed-off shotgun, authorities said.

The other two alleged growing operations were in the 6800 block of Kilconnell Drive and the 7500 block of Shelby Way in Elk Grove, said police.

"This is an ongoing investigation," said Elk Grove police spokesman Christopher Trim. "There may be additional homes involved, or not. Traditionally, one house leads us to another and another."

Arrested in connection with the case were Felix Su, 43; Kim Ta, 41; Duong Su, 54; Raymond Su, 24; and Mui Ly, 47.
