QUESTION: I believe in May 2010 or 2011, a young woman was killed by a truck that ran a stop light on Laguna Boulevard and Laguna Park Drive while she was on her morning run. Has there been any update on this case?

ANSWER: Teresa Hess, 54, of Elk Grove was fatally injured April 5, 2011, when she was struck by a pickup truck as she jogged across Laguna Boulevard.
Hess had stepped off the curb at Laguna Boulevard near Laguna Park Drive when she was struck by the vehicle driven by 32-year-old James Sanders. Police said Sanders was eastbound on Laguna Boulevard and ran a red light that had been red for several seconds when the pickup entered the intersection.
According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, Sanders was charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, without gross negligence. He pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced to 90 days in a sheriff's work project and three years probation.
