QUESTION: What happened to Grigoriy Bukhantsov, who was charged with killing his sister-in-law and two young children?
Submitted by: Zuzik, Rancho Cordova
ANSWER: Grigoriy Bukhantsov, 20, is still awaiting trial for the October slaying of his sister-in-law and two of her children in their Rancho Cordova home.
He is being held without bail in Sacramento County Jail. According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, his next court date, for a status conference, is June 7.
Bukhantsov is charged with three counts of murder in the deaths of 23-year-old Alina Bukhantsov, 3-year-old Emmanuela and 2-year-old Avenir.
Grigoriy Bukhantsov had spent the previous night with his brother Denis and family. Denis Bunkhantsov discovered the bodies of his wife and children in their DeSoto Way duplex the afternoon of Oct. 23. The couple's youngest child, 6-month-old Mark, also was in the home but was not injured.
According to Sacramento family court records, Bukhantsov's parents once sought a restraining order against Grigoriy, citing several instances of violent abuse, but Denis Bukhantsov said he never thought his brother was a threat to his family.
