Auburn traffic stop leads to drug-related arrests

A routine traffic stop Friday evening in Auburn resulted in a foot chase and two arrests.

At 10:42 p.m. Auburn police officer Chris Forman initiated a traffic stop at the 13,000 block of Lincoln Way. While being searched, the driver identified as Lucas Ryan Strom, 33, of Auburn, began making furtive movements, pushed the officer away and fled, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Strom resisted arrest and was pepper sprayed while being taken into custody, the police said.

Officers found a sizable amount of heroin in Strom's possession. He was also wanted for burglary in Summit County, Utah. The passenger Sean Isaacks, 26, of Grass Valley, remained in the car during the attempted escape but was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and a switchblade. A search of the vehicle also produced a digital scale.

Strom remains in custody and faces an array of charges, including possession with intent to distribute.
