CHP releases more details in fiery fatal crash on Highway 50

A driver in a fiery crash off of Highway 50 at Bass Lake Road died at the scene this morning.

The California Highway Patrol reported that he motorist was traveling in a car about 2 a.m. this morning on eastbound Highway 50 approaching Bass Lake Road. The car veered off the roadway, traveling on the dirt between the highway lanes and the offramp pavement.

The car then continued down to Bass Lake Road where it crossed the street and crashed into a dirt embankment. The car caught fire and the driver died.

Neither the name nor the gender of the driver was immediately released.
