Elk Grove man charged with producing child-porn videos

Michael+Paul+Gibson.jpgA federal grand jury today returned an indictment charging an Elk Grove man with two counts of production and attempted production of child pornography.

Michael Gibson, 37, is accused of using minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such conduct, according to a federal Department of Justice news release.

According to a sworn complaint filed May 3, in March, a computer at Gibson's residence was observed offering files of child pornography through an online file-sharing network. On May 1, law enforcement agents searched Gibson's house and found a hard drive that contained videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Also located were hidden-camera videos taken by Gibson in bathrooms in his house.

Gibson was arrested May 3 and remains in Sacramento County Jail. He is to be arraigned May 22 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison Claire.

The case resulted from an investigation by the Sacramento Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Elk Grove Police Department.
