Two robberies of men on late-night runs to Woodland convenience stores

Two men were held up in separate robberies that occurred when they left convenience stores last night in Woodland.

In the first stick-up, Horacio Hernandez, 46, of Woodland was walking back from the 7-11 store at 1229 East Main Street about 9:45 p.m. when robbers described as male teens around 16 years old approached him. One pulled a silver revolver from his waistband and demanded Hernandez empty his pockets.

The other took the property from Hernandez and both of the robbers left on foot northbound on East Street from Lemen Avenue.

Woodland police said that at about 10 p.m. another robbery occurred when Ryen Hirschenhofer, 22, was held up near Quik Stop Market on Kentucky Avenue. He was approached by two men in their 20s who first asked him for a cigarette.

Then, one man pulled a gun from his waistband and demanded Hirschenhofer's property. Hirschenhofer turned over his belongings to the robber and noticed that the other man was holding a gun at his side.

The suspects were seen fleeing on foot westbound on Kentucky Avenue.

Anyone with information pertaining to either robbery is asked to call Woodland police at (530) 661-7800.
