Homeless man struck with bat during fight in Woodland

Woodland police are looking for a man who they believe hit a transient on the head with a baseball bat during a fight on Wednesday.

Police said Monty Tesnear, 57, was hit on the head and left arm during the brawl, reported about 11 p.m., in which combatants used with knives and bats. Tesnear was treated at Woodland Memorial Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The assault apparently happened behind a shuttered movie theater on Main Street where other transients had gathered in an alley. Police described Tesnear's attacker as a black man, about 50 years old, who goes by the name of "Marcus."

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (530) 661-7800.
