Sacramento sheriff's deputies say residents of the south area of Sacramento should be alert for the man who may attempt to kidnap another child.
The attempted kidnapping occurred about 1 p.m. Saturday when a 7-year-old girl was walking with her mother in the 5300 block of 47th Avenue. A man pulled up and grabbed the girl, placing her in the trunk of his car.
The mother of the girl screamed, alerting a nearby resident, who called 911. A sheriff's department press release said the girl managed to get away:
"Fortunately, the victim was somehow able to open the trunk of the car from inside, and jump out of the vehicle as the suspect drove away"
The girl suffered scratches in her effort to escape. The sheriff's department supplied a sketch and description of the kidnapper.
He was described as man between 25 and 35 years old, with light brown skin, about 6 feet tall, and 180 pounds. He had black shoulder-length hair, which was worn either in braids or dreadlocks.
The man was wearing a black shirt with a white printed design on the front. The suspect's car was either a dark green or blue four-door sedan with tinted windows.
