Lodi man booked on manslaughter in death of roommate

Lodi police said they have arrested a man on suspicion of killing his roommate.

Richard Welker, 33, (pictured) was arrested on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter, felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition, according to a police press release.

Officers responded to the 700 block of South Central Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a shooting. When they arrived, police found Arlie Druen, 33, had been shot more than once.

He was taken by ambulance to Lodi Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Welker, Druen's roommate, was then arrested.
