Man seriously injured in Robla-area shooting

One man was taken to a hospital this evening with injuries that are possibly life-threatening after he was shot in the Robla area.

Sgt. Andrew Pettit of the Sacramento Police Department said officers were summoned at 7:40 fire department personnel, who were responding to a report of a shooting.

They found the victim at a market at Norwood and Jessie avenues. Pettit said the victim's companions reported that they were in a vehicle at Bell Avenue and O'Conner Way when they were confronted by a large group of males wearing white T-shirts, who began shooting at them.

The victim, a passenger in the vehicle, was struck several times in the upper body. His companions then drove him to the nearby market.

The victim is said to be a man in his early 20s.

Pettit said the incident is believed to be gang related. Police are searching for the suspects and no arrests have been made.
