At about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, police and fire personnel responded to the assault in the 900 block of Douglas Boulevard. According to a police activity report, the 79-year-old man had exited his house to ask a group of rowdy teens to move along.
Instead, the five teens charged the man, knocking him to the ground. They allegedly kicked and hit him.
The teens then took off, but Roseville police found one hiding in a nearby yard and the other four on South Lincoln Street.
The five, ranging in age from 16 to 18 years old, were from Roseville, Elk Grove and Antelope. They were arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, elder abuse and other charges, police said.
Police identified the 18-year-olds as Matthew Javaughn Nunley (left photo) of Roseville and Christopher Crishan Clements (right photo) of Elk Grove. Each is being held in Placer Count Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. The other three suspects, all males, have not been named because they are juveniles.
The beaten man was treated at the hospital for his injuries and later released.
