Rancho Cordova woman identified as victim in Memorial Day double homicide

One of the two people shot dead on Monday at a large apartment complex in Foothill Farms has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Coroner's deputies identified her as Roxanne Mason, a 34-year-old Rancho Cordova woman.

Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the shooting that left Mason and a man in his early 40s dead on Monday afternoon.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jason Ramos said there are few clues, no witnesses and no suspects so far.

The Sheriff's Department received calls of a shooting around 1:30 p.m. at the Arbor Ridge apartments in the 4400 block of Oakhollow Drive.

They found the two victims dead in an entryway. Residents reported hearing a "verbal altercation" before shots rang out.

Ramos said one person reported that someone ran from the area after the shots were heard, but no description of the individual was available.
