Rocklin traffic stop leads to stolen catalytic converters

An early morning traffic stop by a Rocklin police officer Wednesday led to the arrest of two people and the recovery of recently stolen catalytic converters.

About 2:50 a.m., the officer noticed a vehicle in the area of Stephanie and Wesley drives and stopped it for a vehicle code violation. While talking with the driver and passenger, the officer spotted inside the vehicle four catalytic converters and tools for removing converters, according to a Police Department news release.

Both occupants were arrested. They were identified as Huong Van Nguyen, 60, who is homeless, and Ton Saeteurn, 30, of Sacramento. They are accused of receiving stolen property, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools.

Three of the converter theft victims who live in Rocklin contacted the Police Department on Wednesday morning and the converters that had been recovered were subsequently matched to their vehicles, police said.
