DUTCH FLAT -- A Sacramento man died Monday after losing control of his motorcycle in heavy holiday traffic on Interstate 80 near Dutch Flat.
Steven Brown, 66, was traveling westbound on I-80 near the Alta exit about 11 a.m. when the solo-vehicle accident occurred, said Sgt. Kevin Pierce of the Gold Run California Highway Patrol office.
Brown died when he was ejected from his motorcycle and struck the paved median, Pierce said.
Brown apparently applied his brakes as traffic ahead slowed for a curve and was ejected after losing control of the motorcycle when it began to skid, said Pierce.
"There's no indication alcohol, drugs or excessive speed were involved," Pierce said. "A light rain had just begun, which could have been a factor," he added.
The investigation is awaiting additional witness interviews and the coroner's report, he said.
