The Sacramento Police Department will conduct a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint Saturday night on Arden Way near Challenge Way.
It will begin at 8 p.m. and continue for five to seven hours.
Motorists traveling through the checkpoint will be contacted by uniformed officers, who will check for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving, according to a Police Department news release.
Officers also will check to make sure all drivers have a valid driver's license.
Motorists who are caught driving impaired could face jail, license suspension and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
