Suspect in Woodland kidnap attempt indicted in child porn case

A man arrested in the attempted kidnapping of a woman in Woodland last November was indicted this week for trading in child pornography.

A federal grand jury in Sacramento on Thursday returned a four-count indictment charging Kyle Michael Hall, 24, of Woodland with receipt and distribution of child pornography, according to a federal Department of Justice news release.

According to the indictment, between May 10 and Oct. 30, 2012, Hall distributed and/or received child pornography through the Internet.

Hall originally was arrested by Woodland police Nov. 28 after a 31-year-old Woodland woman reported Nov. 25 that a man tried to kidnap her in the Westgate shopping center at 367 Main St.

Police reported that she told officers she was walking between parked vehicles when a man seated in a pickup truck opened his door, blocking her way. The woman said he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her toward the truck. The woman yelled for help and as a bystander approached, the man released her and drove off. She was not injured.

Hall was arrested three days later in another Woodland parking lot. Charges in the attempted kidnapping case are currently pending in Yolo County.

After Hall's November arrest, obscene sexual material involving children was found on his property and investigators determined that it belonged to him, according to Woodland police.

The federal case resulted from an investigation by the Woodland Police Department and Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
