Bail for a Meadow Vista man was set at $130,000 after he allegedly stole a chainsaw from a local hardware store earlier this week and evaded capture for several hours.
Tuesday morning, Placer County Sheriff's deputies say they spotted James Everett Daniel, 30, outside a Meadow Vista home and identified him as the suspect in a theft Monday of the Meadow Vista True Value Hardware store.
Before deputies could make contract with Daniel, he fled in to the nearby woods, according to a sheriff's department press release.
Despite using a sheriff's K-9 in the search, Daniel was not found, authorities said.
A few hours later, a resident reported seeing a man who matched the suspect's description running through back yards near the search area. Deputies later caught Daniel inside a motor home in front of the Volley Road home where he was originally spotted.
Daniel is facing charges of commercial burglary, resisting arrest and a previous $100,000 warrant for child endangerment.
The chainsaw was returned to the store.
