The first incident occurred about 6:12 a.m. Sacramento police officers responded to a report of an individual throwing rocks at passing vehicles at Gateway Park and North Market boulevards. A windshield of a car was believed to have been struck and damaged by a rock, but no one was injured, according to the Police Department's daily activity log.
Police searched the area and found Franklin Cole (picture), 60, who was identified as the person suspected of throwing the rocks. He was arrested on suspicion of assault.
At 4:51 p.m., Sacramento fire personnel called police dispatch after someone threw a rock at their fire engine in the area of 24th Street and Florin Road. The engine wasn't hit, but 48-year-old James Ross was cited for throwing an object at a vehicle, according to the police log.
