The 31-year-old woman who slapped a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy this week in hopes of being thrown in jail and kicking her cigarette habit has received time behind bars.
Etta Mae Lopez (pictured), 31, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery on a peace officer and was sentenced to 63 days in jail on Thursday, said Shelly Orio, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
Lopez gets credit for the three days she served. She was also was sentenced to five days for violating her probation from a drunken driving conviction.
Deputy Matt Campoy on Tuesday booked Lopez into jail after being slapped by Lopez as he exited the main jail, in uniform, at the end of his shift.
Campoy said Lopez moved into his way and continued to block his path before eventually slapping him in the face. Lopez, the deputy said, told him that she slapped him to serve time in the smoke-free jail and in that way quit smoking, cold turkey.
