A homeless man camping behind a shuttered Woodland restaurant was stabbed during an argument late Saturday night, according to police.
Police said they were called to the former Casa De Sapore restaurant at 929 Court St. about 11:35 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a 32-year-old Woodland man with multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck area.
Paramedics responded to the scene and began treating the victim for several life-threatening injuries. He was transported to UC Davis Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Sunday morning.
A friend of the victim said the two had set up a camping site behind the building, when two men confronted them and started an argument that led to the stabbing.
The attackers are described as two Hispanic male adults, heavy set and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. They were last seen running westbound on Court Street, the friend said.
Police have no clear motive for the attack. Anyone with information is urged to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-2411.
