Woodland man arrested in alleged hammer attack

A Woodland man was arrested tonight after allegedly hitting another man with a hammer during a fight.

Woodland police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Saunders Way about 6:40 p.m. regarding a fight involving a hammer. When police arrived, the parties involved had already been separated.

Officers found a 55-year-old Woodland man bleeding slightly from the head, according to a Police Department news release. The man reported that he had been struck in the head with a hammer during a dispute. He refused medical treatment at the scene.

Officers arrested 37-year-old Paul Whiteleather on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into Yolo County Jail.
