ANSWER: Kenneth Azlin, 26, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the fatal stabbing of 65-year-old Roy Shier.
He is being held in Sacramento County Jail without bail. According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, his next court date is July 19.
Sacramento County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 6200 block of Coyle Avenue just before 11 p.m. March 27 regarding a report of a stabbing. According to a story in The Bee, they found Shier, who had suffered injuries that a sheriff's spokesman said were "consistent with sharp force and blunt force trauma." He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses identified Azlin as the alleged attacker and provided a description of him. Deputies found him on the campus of a nearby elementary school and arrested him.
Sheriff's officials said Azlin is the grandson of Shier's wife. She and two juvenile members of the family were at the home at the time of the attack but were not injured.
