Bicyclist in fatal Elk Grove collision is identified

The Sacramento County Coroner's office has released the name of the bicyclist who died of injuries suffered in a weekend collision with a pickup truck towing a trailer in Elk Grove.

He was identified as Michael Andrew Ball, 26, of Elk Grove.

The Chevrolet pickup with trailer collided with Ball riding outside the bike lane on Franklin High Road just south of Vilamoura Way about 11 p.m. Sunday, police said. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver of the pickup spoke with officers at the scene. The collision is under investigation by the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau.
