Fast-working Woodland police nab a burglary suspect

About ten minutes after a Woodland woman reported her husband's two bikes were taken, police had a man in custody for the garage break-in at her home.

Woodland dispatch received a call from Carol Barnett at 2:45 p.m. Thursday stating that two men had taken two bikes and other items belonging to her husband, Stephen Barnett, from her garage in the 900 block of College Street.

The theft was broadcast via radio and in-car computers to Woodland officers. At 2:56 p.m. one of the responding Woodland police officers saw a man matching the description of one of the suspects walking near Fourth Street and Gum Avenue.

The man was carrying a black duffel bag, which he dropped upon seeing the officer. The officer ended up arresting the man, identified as Ronald Bell, 49, of Woodland on suspicion of burglary.

The other suspect is still being sought, according to a police press release. No word on the whereabouts of the bikes.
