Update: Lanes re-opened after fatal wrong-way driver wreck on I-5

All lanes have re-opened on northbound Interstate 5 where earlier this morning a wrong-way driver killed another motorist in a head-on crash.

Traffic was backed up into the downtown area this morning as the California Highway Patrol cleared the fatal traffic collision on Interstate 5. The freeway opened at 6:50 a.m.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Del Paso Road about 1:30 a.m. when his car struck two vehicles.

The driver in a Toyota Corolla died at the scene. A family in an Sport Utility Vehicle suffered minor injuries.

The wrong-way driver suffered moderate injuries. All of the injured were transported to the hospital.
