Firebombing suspect booked into jail for Rio Linda arson

Billie Cooper.JPGA man was arrested on suspicion of homicide and various other charges for allegedly tossing a firebomb into a Rio Linda home last night.

Billie Lee Cooper, 50, (pictured) was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, arson, endangering the life of a child, possessing a destructive device and making criminal threats.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched about 9 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Hayer Circle. Information suggested that Cooper was on his way to the address and that he intended to burn down the residence.

While en route, deputies got an additional call that somebody had thrown an explosive device through a window of the home. Several adults and a three-year-old child were inside.

Fire personnel arrived to put the blaze out. The occupants of the home were able to get out without injury.

At about 9:20 p.m., deputies found Cooper hiding in nearby Dry Creek, according to a sheriff's department press release.
