Man accused of vandalism, damaging police car

RATHBUN,+LEE-36.jpgA man accused of vandalizing vehicles and park facilities allegedly proceeded to damage the Sacramento police car that transported him to jail.

Lee Rathbun (pictured), 36, was taken into custody about 1:30 p.m. Thursday after officers received a report that a man had vandalized multiple vehicles in the 7400 block of Shasta Avenue, south of Cosumnes River Boulevard, between Bruceville Road and Highway 99.

According to the Police Department's daily activity log, Rathbun was seen jumping around in the street before approaching and kicking the side of a vehicle that had just entered a turn lane. He then reportedly was seen chasing cars before he entered an area park, where he allegedly tipped over garbage cans and walked around yelling at people.

Rathbun reportedly entered a nearby parking lot and continued to vandalize cars.

Rathtun was taken into custody and on his way to jail, police said, he vandalized the back of the officer's vehicle and spit on the patrol car.
