A baby was rescued after being left for more than an hour in an idling vehicle in a Taco Bell parking lot in Oak Park, Sacramento police said.
Shortly before noon Monday, police were called to the parking lot of a Taco Bell at 5550 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. where they learned that a 4- to 5-month-old baby had been left alone in a car, said Officer Michele Gigante, Sacramento police spokeswoman.
Police said that the child was safe and unhurt, but that the baby's apparently intoxicated mother was found about 20 feet away.
The infant was brought to UC Davis Medical Center and placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. The mother was being treated at the medical center.
Gigante said police are seeking a warrant for the mother's arrest, pending her release from the hospital.
