Killer in Meadowview case sentenced to life without parole

A man convicted in the bludgeon murder of a Meadowview man during the course of an attempted drug robbery has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Ernest W. Sawtelle imposed the term Monday on Joseph Lee Conn, 27, for the Jan. 1, 2011, killing of Scott Hanson, 48.

Conn also was sentenced to an additional nine-year term for his conviction on an attempted murder count in the same case. He now is expected to be extradited to Colorado to face another murder charge there, authorities said.

A second defendant convicted of murder in the case, Arsenio Barajas, 24, is scheduled to be sentenced by Sawtelle on June 28.
