Roadway IED in Solano County made safe by sheriff's robot

Solano County Sheriff's deputies report that a bomb squad on Sunday disarmed an improvised explosive device.

A call came into the sheriff's department at 7:55 a.m. Sunday of a suspicious container in the roadway on Prosperity Lane near Tolenas Avenue between Fairfield and Travis Air Force Base.

At 1:30 p.m., the Yolo County Bomb Squad rendered the device safe using a robot. The IED was described as a 5-gallon jug with a long electrical wire running from it.

Inside the container was an "assortment of small explosives and flammable materials," according to a Solano County sheriff's press release. Anyone with information about the device or the person responsible for placing it on Properity Lane is asked to call Detective Sgt. Brian Travis at (707) 421-7090.
