Sobriety checkpoint scheduled Friday night in Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova police will conduct a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday in the city, police officials announced Tuesday.

Traffic officers will check motorists for signs of alcohol and drug impairment at the unspecified location and will check whether motorists are properly licensed.

Five people have been killed and 149 hurt in 55 injury crashes in Rancho Cordova in the past three years, according to Rancho Cordova police.
