Caught on tape: Teen booked for stinging pepper spray incident at Sacramento mall

PANTOJA, JUAN MIGUEL-19 (1).JPGA Vacaville man has been arrested for the deployment of pepper spray at a Sacramento mall that left some people feeling the sting of the aerosol agent.

Juan Miguel Pantoja, 19, (pictured) was arrested Wednesday after Sacramento police detectives served at search warrant at his home in Vacaville. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into Sacramento County Jail.

Sacramento police reported that about 6 p.m. June 1 several people were in an argument at Arden Fair mall that culminated when one person used pepper spray. Those involved fled the scene but other innocent people in the area felt the effects of the spray.

At the time, mall security chief Steve Reed said the incident occurred in the area of the food court and that he had strong video evidence. The mall boasts an extensive network of security cameras.

The spray irritates the eyes, causing tears and pain.
