Two teenage boys were taken into custody by Davis police Wednesday on suspicion of raping an 11-year-old girl, authorities said.
The boys, ages 13 and 14, were taken to Yolo County Juvenile Hall. The three minors lived together at FamiliesFirst, a group home on the 2100 block of 5th Street in Davis.
Police said the sexual assault did not occur on the property of Families First, though other youth from the home were reportedly present during the alleged rape. The youths were not supervised by FamiliesFirst staff during the incident.
During the course of the investigation, the two males were also found to have engaged in other illegal activity, including shoplifting, theft and fighting, officials said.
Davis police has fielded more than 500 service calls from the group home this year, according to the department. In addition, more than 100 reports of youth running away from the facility have been documented.
The state Department of Social Services and the Yolo County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. Several minors from the home have been taken into protective custody.
