Two people accused of thefts from Auburn vehicles

Hu.JPGRusso.JPGAuburn police arrested a man and woman early today after they were found to be in possession of stolen property, including a handgun.

Police received a report about 3:30 a.m. of two people behaving in a suspicious manner in the area of Burlin and Perkins ways. Officers responded to the area and contacted Mickey Hu (left photo), 22, and Morgan Russo (right photo), 18. During the investigation, Hu and Russo were found to be in possession of items that were determined to have been stolen from vehicles in the area and involving three different victims, according to a Police Department news release.

Two of the victims were contacted and advised of the theft and a third was contacted later in the day, police said.

Hu and Russo were arrested on suspicion of felony theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. They were booked into Placer County Jail with bail for Hu set at $20,000 and for Russo, at $5,000.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call police at (530) 823-4237.

Police advise residents to avoid keeping valuable items in their vehicles and to keep cars locked at all times.
