Sacramento police are investigating a hit-and-run collision that caused a vehicle to overturn near 15th and J streets Thursday evening.
While stopped at a red light at 16th and K streets about 7:10 p.m., a patrol officer saw a vehicle, with three occupants, traveling the wrong direction on 16th Street with its airbags deployed, according to the Police Department's daily activity log.
The officer activated the police car's lights and siren and pulled in behind the suspect vehicle.
The driver got out of the vehicle while it was still in drive, and the vehicle rolled forward, coming to a stop when it hit oncoming vehicles that had yielded and already come to a stop, police said.
The driver ignored the officer's commands to stop and ran down L Street.
Police discovered that the suspect vehicle had just been involved in a collision in the area of 15th and J streets, where it had struck another vehicle, causing that vehicle to overturn. The driver of the vehicle that flipped over reported no injuries, but one of the passenger's in the suspect vehicle was transported to the hospital complaining of pain, police said.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was not located.
