California Highway Patrol officers said they pulled over a speeding car in Sacramento that contained 57 pounds of marijuana.
Officers said they saw the 2013 Dodge Charger traveling at about 80 mph at 4:30 a.m. Thursday near Interstate 5 and Highway 50. Initially slow to respond to patrol vehicle's emergency lights, the driver eventually exited I-5 at Seamas Avenue and pulled over on Riverside Boulevard.
The officer could smell the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle upon speaking with the driver, Milo Conlin, 37, of Chico, a CHP press release states. The officer could also see two large, sealed plastic bags on the rear seat.
Eventually, six large bags containing numerous 1- to 2-pound plastic bags of marijuana were confiscated. Also found, the CHP said, was a pound of concentrated cannabis.
Conlin, in possession of $2,000 in cash, was arrested on suspicion of possession of concentrated cannabis, transportation of marijuana for sale and possession of marijuana for sale.
