A grass fire south of Highway 50 in the Folsom and El Dorado Hills area is reported fully contained after burning 163 acres this afternoon.
Teri Mizuhara, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said the fire was reported at 2:12 p.m. and appears to have started along eastbound Highway 50 near the Sacramento-El Dorado county line. Cal Fire, along with firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded. Fire crews and equipment are expected to remain on scene for several hours mopping up.
Mizuhara said a home on Winterfield Way in El Dorado Hills' Stonebriar subdivision suffered some damage after landscaping apparently ignited and fire spread to the fence and the outside of the house. She said firefighters on scene were able to prevent major damage.
Although there were no mandatory evacuations, Mizuhara said an advisory was issued for the Stonrebriar subdivision.
