A Sacramento County Jail inmate who died after she allegedly told deputies that she was ill from swallowing drugs has been identified.
The Sacramento County coroner's office identified her as Danielle Shuata Daniels, 39, of Sacramento.
Daniels was in a holding tank in the female intake area about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday when she told deputies that she was sick from ingesting a controlled substance, according to a sheriff's department press release.
Daniels, booked Monday evening on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale, was transported to a hospital where she became unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at 3:18 a.m. Tuesday.
A Sacramento police activity log indicates that Daniels was arrested after the search of a home in the 7600 block of Rotherton Way on Monday.
Officers conducted a search and found cocaine, methamphetamine packaged for sale and about $1,400. Daniels was then arrested.
