Carl Harris (pictured), 29, was booked into Sacramento County Jail this afternoon on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail.
About noon today, deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Howe Ave. regarding a report that someone had been stabbed. Deputies were told that a man, later identified as Harris, had approached the victim to speak with him. As the victim attempted to walk away, Harris allegedly removed a screwdriver from his pants pocket and stabbed the victim with it, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. The victim suffered a cut to his head.
Harris ran from the scene, but he was found trying to hide outside in the area of an upstairs landing at the apartment complex. He was apprehended by the sheriff's K-9 unit and taken into custody without further incident. Sheriff's officials said Harris was treated for a minor injury but did not require hospitalization.
