Deputies and firefighters were called to the 5600 block of Hillsdale Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. Thursday where it was reported that someone had thrown a firebomb at a home.
Deputies were also told that a suspect in the arson attack was on the roof of a nearby residence.
Crews searched the townhomes to make sure residents were out of the units and put out the fire. None of the residents were injured.
Witnesses on the scene told a Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District arson investigator that someone watching the fire suppression efforts matched the description of the arson suspect.
The arson investigator interviewed the man, eventually arresting him. Charles Hui McKenzie, 45, was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, arson, possession of a firebomb and unauthorized entry into a dwelling.
