Man fatally shot after argument in apartment parking lot

A man was found fatally shot in the parking lot of an apartment in the 5100 block of Mack Road shortly before 1 a.m. today.
The man, believed to be in his early 40s, was at the base of a stairwell. Police officers and later, firefighters, tried to give him CPR but failed to revive him.
The victim apparently was shot in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police that they saw the man arguing with another man before a shot was fired. The motive isn't known, police said. The victim apparently had no ties to the apartment complex, police said.
The suspect has not been identified. If anyone has information about the shooting, please call the Sacramento Police Department at (916) 264-5471.
