Mudslide closes westbound I-80 near Nevada state line

The California Department of Transportation reports that crews are en route to a mudslide on westbound Interstate 80 near the Nevada state line.

Caltrans spokesman Gilbert Mohtes-Chan said the slide occurred about 4 p.m. near Farad Road and has been described as minor. Rain had been reported in the area this afternoon

Mohtes-Chan said traffic cameras showed mud covering the westbound lanes and one eastbound lane. He said the Calfironia Highway Patrol is stopping westbound traffic until Caltrans crews can assess situation.
