South Lake Tahoe homicide victim identified

A South Lake Tahoe man who was stabbed to death Saturday near a residential complex has been identified by officials.

Police said Julian Acevedo Salvador, 28, was stabbed following an altercation near the Americana Village Suites, an apartment complex just south of Highway 50.

The suspect, identified as a white male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, is still at large.

According to police, the suspect was walking on Pioneer Trail, not far from the Heavenly gondola, when he got into a confrontation with Salvador and two other men.

Salvador was taken by family members to Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, where he died, according to police.
