QUESTION: What happened to Mike Love, who murdered an older couple in Rio Linda back in the mid to late 1970s?
Submitted by: Terry, Rancho Cordova
ANSWER: Michael Lynn Love, was convicted in 1981 of two counts of murder for the 1979 slaying of his neighbors, Faye Alexander, 62, and her 63-year-old husband, Charlie.
Now 51, Love is incarcerated at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo. The Board of Prison Terms in May denied his bid for parole.
On Aug. 10, 1979, Love, then 17, went to his neighbors' house armed with a baseball bat and a knife. He encountered Faye Alexander outside the home, beat her over the head with the bat and repeatedly stabbed her, killing her, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
He then went inside and found Charlie Alexander, an invalid, lying on the couch, and killed him by beating and stabbing him.
Finally, Love killed the Alexanders' three dogs and set fire to the house with the victims inside.
After he was arrested, Love reportedly claimed that he had gone to the house to commit robbery but snapped when Faye Alexander started to yell at him.
