Auburn police arrest man following string of burglaries

Woodhouse.jpgAuburn police arrested a man this morning in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred recently at various locations in the city.

Officers following up on leads spotted the suspect vehicle parked in the lot of the Colonial Village Apartments on New Airport Road about 6 a.m. While watching the vehicle, they saw a man who looked like the individual in surveillance video get into the car and start to drive off in it.

Officers stopped the vehicle as it left the apartment complex.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, 27-year-old Thomas Woodhouse (pictured) of Auburn, was the person in the video, according to a Police Department news release. He was arrested in connection with one of the burglaries, police said.

Auburn police are working with deputies and investigators from the Placer County Sheriff's Department to determine whether Woodhouse and his associates were involved in several other burglaries that have occurred in the Auburn area.

Woodhouse was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property. Police said additional charges are pending from the Sheriff's Department.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding the burglaries is asked to call Sgt. Gary Hopping at (530) 823-4237, ext. 263.
