Davis police say stabbings at party may be gang related

Davis police are investigating two stabbings that reportedly occurred early Sunday morning when a fight erupted during a party at an apartment complex.

Officers responded to a report of a large fight at 2033 F St. shortly after 2 a.m., and additional callers reported hearing gunshots west of the apartment complex, according to a Police Department news release.

When officers arrived, they located a male who had been stabbed. Officers learned that a party in the complex had gotten out of control and a large fight had erupted among the guests. The victim was stabbed during the fight and suffered major injuries, police said.

Although witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun, police said they found no evidence that gunshots were fired.

While officers were at the scene, the Police Department was notified that a second stabbing victim had been driven to a local hospital by friends.

Police said there are some indications that the stabbings may be gang related.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information regarding the case is asked to call the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5400.
