The man walked into the Bank of the West at 200 Bear St. about 10:30 a.m. and handed the teller a note, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. The teller told deputies that he displayed a black handgun.
The suspect (pictured) is described as a white man with a thin build and wearing a baseball cap, a gray sweater and black jeans.
Sheriff's officials said the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. They said it is not known whether this robbery is related to a robbery earlier in the week at El Dorado Savings in South Lake Tahoe. Placer County sheriff's detectives are working with South Lake Tahoe police to determine whether the two robberies are connected.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call Detective Sage Bourassa at (530) 581-6322.
