Medical Center in Carmichael on lockdown

The emergency room at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael is on lockdown, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Lisa Bowman of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said a nurse from the ER called at 10:42 a.m., describing a 25-year-old female with a stab wound to the chest.

It's unclear if the wound is life-threatening, but the woman could barely speak. She told the nurse that her boyfriend stabbed her and gave his first name, which 12 police are using to look for him.

The ER is on lockdown at the risk of the suspect trying to attack the victim again, Bowman said.
